The 75th Annual Los Angeles County Science &Engineering Fair (LACSEF) Winners Announced

Inu Cho of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, won first place in the category of Chemistry – Senior Division
Kelly Han and Lucas Yang of Ridgecrest Intermediate School, won first place in the category of Plant Biology & Physiology – Junior Division (A)
Yanjun Chen of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, won first place in the category of Mathematics & Computer Sciences – Senior Division

The 75th Annual Los Angeles County Science and Engineering Fair (LACSEF) tookplace March 9-10 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The eventhosted approximately 1,150 students in grades 6-12 from over 140 schools across LACounty. The science fair is split into a Senior (high school) and Junior (middle school)Division. Students compete for numerous award opportunities and scholarships. The top 1st and 2nd place winners from each category are invited to participate in theCalifornia State Science & Engineering Fair which will take place in Thousand Oaks, CA, April 12-13, 2025.Zichen Wei, The Webb Schools (Claremont)took the top honor in the Senior Division,winning the Sweepstakes Award and Willow Wehage, Sierra Madre Middle School(Sierra Madre)won the Sweepstakes award in the Junior Division. ISEF designees 2 of 4include: Zichen Wei, The Webb Schools (Claremont)and Neil Hu, Temple City HighSchool (Temple City).

These Senior Division students presented top projects at the2025 LACSEF and will receive a chaperoned fully paid trip to the 2025 Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), May 10-16, 2025, in Columbus, OH. All LACSEF award winners and participants were honored in the virtual awards ceremony now available on the LACSEF YouTube channel. Mark Segal of Palos Verdes Intermediate School, won first place in the category
of Plant Biology & Physiology – Junior Division (B)
Anish Anand of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, won first place in the category of Engineering Applications – Senior Division (A)
Adam Lu and Michael Chao of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, won first place in the category of Animal Biology – Senior Division
Maryam Soliman and Sydney Wynn of Palos Verdes High School, won first place in the category of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology – Senior Division
