Thankful: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Celebrates It’s “60th Anniversary”

On Sunday, October 12, 2025 St. Paul’s Lutheran Church celebrated its 60th anniversary with a luncheon at the original Red Onion. The celebration was attended by dozens of St. Paul’s members. A slideshow included photos from the history of St. Paul’s. Attendees discussed the church’s history, noting past pastors and longstanding members. Many fondly recalled Rev. Thomas C. Cooper, who was pastor of the church from 1973-1990. “Pastor Tom” conducted Easter Sunrise Services at Marineland that were attended by over 2500 people.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is a small and friendly church with an outsized presence in Rancho Palos Verdes. The church participates in Harbor Interfaith Services and Family Promise to help the homeless and working poor, has a partnership with an orphanage in Nepal in which church members sponsor orphans, sponsors a concert series called Concerts by the Coast, and conducts regular food, clothing, and blood drives to serve the community.

The food at the 60th anniversary celebration was delicious and the room was filled with smiles. St. Paul’s welcomes all to its doors. Help celebrate the next 60 years!
