Switzer Learning Center in Torrance marked World Day of Social Justice on February 20 with a collaborative student art event designed to celebrate inclusion, creativity and community. In partnership with the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative, founded by Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker, 41 neurodiverse middle and high school students participated in hands-on art stations creating social justice pins, affirmation bookmarks and puzzle pieces that formed a large collaborative installation symbolizing unity and belonging. The finished artwork will be displayed on campus as a reminder of Switzer’s mission to foster compassion, resilience and opportunity for students with diverse learning needs.Â
