For the second year in a row, the Palos Verdes Library District hosted “Picnic on the Peninsula” on Saturday, June 7th at the Malaga Cove School grounds. The picnic kicked off PVLD’s all-age summer reading program, “Summer @ PVLD,” which runs from June 9th through August 16th. Community members from all over the Peninsula gathered for a fun-filled day of crafts, face painting, giveaways, and the chance to learn about PVLD’s summer programs. In addition to the Library, 23 other local organizations hosted tables to let the community learn more about them. A fire truck, PVE PD and the CA Highway Patrol each had vehicles which were popular with the young picnickers. Live entertainment included local band The Never Evers, GBC Isami Taiko Drums, and Electric Luau Polynesian Dance Group. PVLD is happy to continue this community event and looks forward to having a summer filled with educational and entertaining programs!
