The Young Creators Initiative (YCI), a Palos Verdes–based nonprofit founded in 2025 by artist and educator Jeannie Kim and her co-founder and daughter, Sophia Shin, brought a burst of color and creativity to Peninsula Montessori School with a vibrant new mural designed and painted by student artists. Together, Jeannie and Sophia are on a mission to empower teens to make a positive impact through art—transforming schools, businesses, and community spaces while inspiring compassion and creativity along the way.
This latest project is part of YCI’s growing movement to unite young artists in service, blending imagination with purpose. With murals and art programs already in place at local schools—from Lunada Bay to Ridgecrest Intermediate—YCI is proving that even small acts of creativity can spark joy, build confidence, and strengthen community connections.

Through workshops, partnerships, and fundraising murals, these young creators are painting a brighter world—one wall, one smile, one stroke at a time.
