Tea by the Sea at Point Fermin Lighthouse

Pt. Fermin Lighthouse volunteers are always busy giving tours and tending the gardens at the lighthouse.  However, there are lots of other activities they engage in as well.  One of the most popular special events they support is the annual Point Fermin Lighthouse Tea by the Sea & Boutique.

Volunteers collaborated with LA Rec & Park Lighthouse staff to organize the event which took place on Saturday, May 9th.  Most of us would agree that there are few better ways to relax and recharge than in a beautiful garden. Enjoying the lovely Lighthouse setting is a treat hard to resist and, when accompanied by tea and light refreshments, you can’t go wrong.  The added attraction of a boutique of local artisans made the event all the more appealing.  Our volunteer gardeners’ work hard cultivating the floral and vegetable landscape which local LA 15th district Councilmember, Tim McOsker, admired when visiting.  He recalled his mother’s fondness for the site.  To supplement Society volunteers, high school Police Cadets from San Pedro‘s Olguin Campus assisted with set-up, serving, and clean-up.

Several round tables with chairs and colorful umbrellas are spread out on a lawn, with people sitting, eating, and drinking.
Colorful umbrellas welcome guests.

Our volunteers champion and promote the Pt. Fermin Lighthouse Society mission to preserve, protect and share this historic, architectural, maritime, and cultural resource through advocacy, education, and public access. Join us in preserving the history and beauty of the 150 + year old Point Fermin Lighthouse. We are looking for passionate volunteers to help with various tasks. Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to commit regularly, we would love to have you join us!
