Palos Verdes Peninsula: Its Founding, Its Culture, Its Beauty

This exhibition is part of the Doors Open Peninsula 2023 program celebrating 100 years of Palos Verdes Peninsula history.  Produced by local artist Rick Humphrey, it tells the stories of individuals whose contributions made the Peninsula what it is today.  The exhibition also features artwork from the Portuguese Bend Artist Colony.

As part of the 100th birthday, artist Rick Humphrey is hosting the exhibit, “Palos Verdes Peninsula: Its Founding, Its Culture, Its Beauty,” at the Malaga Cove Library Gallery, located at 2400 Vía Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, from June 22 to July 8. An opening reception will take place Saturday, June 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gallery.

  1. Anyone interested in the history of Palos Verdes might want to attend my lecture at the PV Art Center this Saturday, August 19th, at 1 pm. I start in 1911 and go until 1973 when RPV was incorporated. Speaking as someone who has lived here for 75 years, that feels like current events. I was an eyewitness to much of the history and knew some of the founders — Fred Roessler was my dad’s tennis partner, for example.
