The Palos Verdes Junior Women’s Club raises funds to support local philanthropies that address often overlooked and underserved critical needs in the South Bay community for the past 67 years. These include crisis intervention, prevention, and ongoing support services. The Club also awards scholarships to deserving local high school seniors entering their first year of college or university.
Each year, philanthropies are carefully selected following a thorough evaluation of their financial needs and the impact of their work. Priority is given to organizations that serve women and children in crisis.
There were 13 philanthropies, and five scholarship recipients honored at this year’s disbursement event held on May 29, 2025, at the beautiful Pt Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. Our three scholarship winners (in attendance): Nicolette Daniel, Maris Reyes, Natalie AndressonPV Juniors President, Teri Screen and Lauren Luna, VP of Philanthropy Nicolette and Judy SipesTeri Screen, PV Juniors President with Judy SipesDr. Kay Ramsey, Harbor Interfaith Services, Dr. Lupe Rievera, Toberman Neighborhood Center, and Matthew Scelza from Trinity Care Hospice.Albro Lundy, Cathleen Daniel, Nicolette Daniel and Judy SipesJessica Patay, Jessica Baer (both from We Are Brave Together), Teri Screen (PV Junior’s President), Jillian Van Leuven and Melody Lomboy-Lowe (from Cancer Support Community South Bay)Philanthropy Committee: Dr. Julie Douglass, Susan Davis, Allison Phillips, and Lauren Luna (chair).
