Meet Renee Capazzola

RENEE CAPAZZOLA – Lunada Bay Resident, PVHS Teacher and international underwater photographer Wins coveted “Photographer of the Year” award from the World Shootout Underwater Photo Competition held in Dusseldorf, Germany at “Boot Dusseldorf,” the world’s leading water sports trade fair and boat show.
Renee was also part of the USA National Team, along with Ron Watkins of New Jersey and Jeff Milisen of Hawaii, who won the Championship category of the World Shootout Underwater Photo Competition.  Renee’s USA Photographer of the Year award was awarded for her  be photograph, which captured a shark, bird, and sunset all in one single shot (shown below) and included a $1000 cash prize.
The USA National Team was awarded three trips to Papua New Guinea, collectively worth $10,000, for their portfolio of six images.  The World Shootout Underwater Photo Competition, which has established itself as one of the largest and most prestigious underwater photo competitions in the world, has run since 2011 and this year, received thousands of entries from photographers from 38 countries.
When Renee is not photographing, she teaches AP Biology at Palos Verdes High School.
