Freedom4U celebrated Día de los Muertos alongside the San Pedro community on Sunday, October 26. We provided arts and crafts stations for kids to paint and decorate their own calavera! Calavera, or calaveras de azúcar typically made out of sugar, represents our inevitable mortality, but also serves as a reminder of our loved ones who have passed. This activity is important for kids by honoring and connecting with the history of this cultural celebration.
Freedom4U is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating life skills, leadership abilities and creativity in teenagers in the South Bay and Harbor Area of Los Angeles. Freedom4U strives to reduce risky behaviors in youth by providing creative, substance-free gatherings and purpose-driven volunteer missions.
