Enzo’s Back

Enzo, the lovable therapy dog who captured hearts in last August’s PV Magazine, is back this summer doing what he does best—bringing comfort, joy, and healing to foster children at Camp RennerVation in Nevada.

Before he became the gentle soul we know today, Enzo was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea by the DoVE Project. His journey took a turn for the better when Jennifer and Mark Giacalone welcomed him into their home in Rancho Palos Verdes after a careful adoption process.

At first, Enzo was timid and unsure—understandable after all he’d been through. But with patience, kindness, and a loving home, he slowly came out of his shell. The Giacalones soon realized that Enzo had a gift—his calm, affectionate presence seemed to lift the spirits of everyone he met. With their encouragement, he began volunteering in nursing homes, schools, and community events, spreading his quiet comfort wherever he went.

In 2024, Enzo became part of Camp RennerVation, a special place created by actor Jeremy Renner, and his sister Kym, to offer foster and at-risk youth a summer of laughter, connection, and self-discovery. Enzo quickly became a favorite among the campers, many of whom saw parts of their own stories reflected in his. Enzo’s unconditional love and acceptance helped the kids forget the trauma, neglect and abuse that they’d sufferedin the past. That big white dog—once scared and uncertain—had found his purpose, and in doing so, helped others begin to heal too.

Enzo’s journey from a frightened puppy to a beloved therapy dog is a powerful reminder of how love and second chances can change everything. Without the DoVE Project, Enzo wouldn’t be here. Instead, he’s not only surviving—he’s thriving, and giving back in the finest way he can.

As Jeremy Renner put it last year, “Enzo was a magnet that united our campers… He’s a star!”

This summer, Enzo returns to Nevada for the 2nd Annual Camp RennerVation, where he’ll work his magic during two week-long sessions serving more than 200 foster and at-risk kids.

  • Session 1 (Ages 8–13): June 30 – July 5
  • Session 2 (Ages 14–18): August 3 – August 7
