Merlin David is the new Executive Director for the Peninsula Friends of the Library. Their first monthly series of events called Celebrating Our Similarities was held November 19, 2023, at the Peninsula Center Library. The first event of the series was Diwali – the South Asian Festival of Lights. The Peninsula Hill Foundation was generous enough to co-sponsor the event to help the library community have fun, learn, and celebrate Diwali – which is a celebration of bringing light to darkness, and spreading light and joy to the world. We live in a culturally rich and diverse Palos Verdes Peninsula community, and we would like to embrace all of the Peninsula to show that we all have a home at our Library. Look for more events at the Palos Verdes Library District celebrating different cultural groups in the coming months.
