Dali Dinner by Made By Meg at VEFA Gallery

On May 14, 2025, guests stepped into a dreamlike world where food, art, and performance converged for a one-night-only surrealist culinary journey. Held inside the immersive “Surreality 101” exhibition, the evening was inspired by Salvador Dalí’s whimsical 1974 cookbook Les Dîners de Gala, offering an unforgettable five-course dining experience by Made By Meg unlike any other.

Culinary historian Carolyn Tillie guided attendees through the evening with rich, immersive storytelling, weaving surrealist food history into each course.

The cocktail reception included tray-passed hors d’oeuvres throughout the gallery, including:

  • Cytherean Meatballs with Potato Puffs on lobster skewers
  • Stuffed Mushroom Caps

And Meg served five imaginative courses pulled from Dalí’s cookbook throughout the dinner, including:

  • First Course: Crayfish Consommé
  • Second Course: Green, White, and Red Lobster
  • Palate Cleanser: Champagne Sorbet
  • Third Course: Quail Hen Stuffed with Chestnuts and Red Cabbage
  • Fourth Course: Pork Shank with Black Radishes, Green Walnut Asparagus Polenta Cake, and Blanched Asparagus
  • Fifth Course: Coconut-Kiwi Panna Cotta “Eyeball” with Raspberry Coulis
