Why They Do What They Do
If you live in the Montemalaga area you have most likely had the pleasure of seeing Dick Kazan during your daily morning drive. Dick stands at the end of his driveway each morning for 30-45 minutes and greets all the cars with a huge smile and friendly wave. We noticed Dick Kazan and we had to ask him why.
The greetings began several years ago for just a few minutes at a time and not every school day. Gradually they have grown to 35 or 40 minutes on nearly every school day. Then and now, I love people and the joy just bubbles over.
The greetings began very simply and grew because of how people reacted. Not only do many of them smile and wave back but some people have written notes to me while others approach me in grocery stores and elsewhere to express their gratitude. Many of them have stories about how these greetings touched their lives in a wonderful way. It feels joyous. My favorite moments are those of children with big smiles calling out as they wave. This melts me. What moment can be happier than one that brings joy to a child. It has been said that my being out there has slowed everyone down and caused them to drive more safely.
I hope so. People can feel my energy and understand my sincerity for their happiness and well-being. This is not something I or anyone else could do who doesn’t love them.
