Walk with Sally – White Light, White Night
PV Residents, Jennifer & John Mentesana with Nicole & Matt Reis Host Small Satellite Event at the Reis Home.
Since this year, like all events, the annual White Light, White Night event which draws over 1,000 attendees and supporters could not be held in person, the Walk With Sally team came up with an incredible way for supporters to participate safely in their homes. WWS Advisory Board member and Locale90 owner Jen Mentesana and her husband John co-hosted a small small Safe@Home WLWN along with their friends Nicole and Matt Reis at their home on August 22nd. “They have a gorgeous backyard with a lot of separate entertaining areas which made it perfect for this situation. We could be outdoors, sit separately, and still support a good cause in which the needs do not go away regardless of Covid-19”, said Jen.
“We provide hand sanitizer, face maske and plenty of opportunity to ensure social distancing. We have to find a way to continue to support those in need regardless of the virus. Over 60% of WWS’s funding comes from WLWN and without the support of their donors, sponsors and this event, they would not be able to continue the programs that are vital to the children they serve”. “We hope that this will be an opportunity to show other organizations that we can come together safely and continue to do good. It may not look the way it has in the past, but like so many other businesses, organizations and groups, we have to find the path forward. Life does not stand still.. and neither can we. We can choose to be safe, but not let this control our futures.”.
Message to PV from WWS Founder,
Nick Arquette
“As we look past on our 15th anniversary and the impact we have made, the Palos Verdes Peninsula has been critical in our growth. We are truly grateful to the community for embracing our mission. We are currently serving children affected by cancer in four PV schools, in addition to 71 others around Los Angeles County and beyond. With your support, we will ensure no child walks alone in the face of cancer, especially while shouldering the burden of COVID19 as well.”
