SUMMARY:Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea Exhibit and Adventure Tours
DESCRIPTION:Trash is making a splash in the Garden this spring. Come see beautiful sculptures made of “trashy” finds\, explore our “trashy” past\, and learn how we can all be a little less “trashy” with the Garden’s latest exhibit\, Washed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea. Sixteen giant creatures made from beach debris have washed ashore and landed at the Garden through September.\n\n\n\n\n\nWashed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea is a non-profit organization committed to combating plastic pollution through art and education. These 16 sculptures\, which consist primarily of sea creatures\, were built by the organization and its volunteers to inspire and spark positive changes in consumer habits. The Garden\, having been built atop a sanitary landfill\, has been proof throughout the past 60-plus years that beautiful things can come from trashy pasts. With this exhibit\, we further explore the concept\, as well as the education behind what we can ALL do to limit waste\, particularly our single-plastic use.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile Washed Ashore is included with Garden Admission (free for Members\, up to $15 for non-members)\, the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour is an additional $29 per person. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Washed Ashore Adventure Tour includes a non-stop shuttle tour unlike anything Garden guests have ever experienced. To start\, guests will meet Defender of the Garden\, Sage\, or the spirited and mischievous Blossom. Both characters take turns hosting the tour\, providing humor and fun along the way. The whole experience is about 45 minutes\, including an exclusive photo opportunity at one of the sculptures. Lastly\, tour guests get to take home a reusable SCBG water bottle to help reduce their carbon footprint. Tours are offered Friday through Sunday.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note\, these sculptures are works of art. While some of them may be touched\, please respect any no-touch signage throughout the exhibit.\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto Credit: Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea

SUMMARY:Sean Kenney's Nature Pop! Exhibit at South Coast Botanic Garden
DESCRIPTION:Bring a POP of color to your life with Nature POP! — opening November 5 here at the Garden! This new exhibition from artist Sean Kenney features more than 40 sculptures made from LEGO® pieces. The sculptures\, which will be sprinkled throughout the Garden’s 87 acres\, explore the beauty of nature through contemporary\, stylized and colorful displays that stand in striking contrast with their surroundings. Each is an Instagram-worthy photo opp in their own right\, but when you add the Garden’s natural beauty as their backdrop\, they are must-sees!\n\n\n\n\n\nThese larger-than-life sculptures invite you to admire Kenney’s artistry\, reflect on the complex natural world and consider the incredible feats of engineering on display. Kenney’s splashy\, gravity-defying structures present a playful spin on traditional sculptural art that challenges visitors to consider: just as LEGO® bricks interconnect\, how is everything in nature interconnected? Nature POP! will delight and inspire the whole family to think and create in new and more colorful ways!\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note\, these sculptures are works of art\, so please resist the urge to touch them and inform your little ones of the no-touch policy. Thank you!\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility: Some areas of Nature POP! might be impassable for wheelchairs or those with mobility issues. To ensure this exhibit is accessible for ALL\, we will have transportation available to take guests to the back of the Garden\, where many of the sculptures will be on display. This Nature POP! Accessibility Shuttle will run seven days a week beginning at 10 a.m. and give priority access to those with mobility issues. To learn more about this new guest amenity\, click here.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nIncluded with Garden Admission Ticket. Exhibit runs daily through January 24\, 2023.
