The Portuguese Bend National Horse Show is presented annually by Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital (PCCH). The committee has a tradition of holding an artwork contest with the winning art being used for different forms of publicity for the show, which raises money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. From 1983-1986, Pat Dispenziere created artwork for the show as a special favor, but the committee ultimately decided to hold an annual artwork contest. After local high schools participated for 10 years, the contest moved to the Palos Verdes Art Center in 2018. 2024 saw 30 submissions! The committee is grateful to participating, enthusiastic artists and looks forward to many more successful contests.
