The Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay (COSB) rang in its 41st season with a POPS concert at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The glorious afternoon of music, friends, dinner, drinks, and a little laughter was something new for the resident classical orchestra of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Performing Arts Center.
The September 10th concert was conducted by Maestro Hector Salazar. Featuring music by Ibert, Piazolla, Joplin, and others the interactive program highlighted Violinist/Comedienne Mari Haig, Pianist Morgan Jones, and Master of Ceremonies Jack Allocco, an eleven-time Emmy Award-winning composer.
COSB musicians performed in the Palos Verdes Golf Club’s beautiful ballroom while patrons enjoyed the stunning view, gourmet dinner, and drinks. “We thought the golf club membership would love that kind of music and that type of evening so in addition to catering to our normal golf club members we were hoping to attract a new and younger audience,” says COSB Board President Ron DeFrees.
“It seems like everyone enjoyed it. So far we have received wonderful reviews,” DeFrees said the next day.
The Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay aims to provide high-quality classical music to the Palos Verdes community and has a proud tradition of attracting award-winning guest artists.
