Peninsula High’s Robotics Team Extends a Helping Hand to Children with Mobility Challenges

Early this month, Peninsula High’s robotics team, Phantom Catz, joined forces with the national organization Go Baby Go to bring joy and mobility to children with Cerebral Palsy. 1 in 345 children is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a mobility disorder that inhibits body movement and muscle coordination. Working with the Go Baby Go program, the talented team of young engineers and innovators took on the challenge of building modified ride-on cars for four families with children facing various disabilities. These dedicated students put their knowledge, skills and passion to good use, rafting special vehicles that would give these children newfound freedom and independence. It was a beautiful sight to see the smiles light up the room as these kids zipped around with joy in their new wheels!

Phantom Catz Team 2637 is a group of students at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School who love engineering and compete in the internationally renowned FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). They design, build and control task-performing robots and annually compete with other teams around the world.
