Palos Verdes Mavericks Varsity Cheer Places 3rd at Nationals

The Palos Verdes Mavericks Varsity Cheer team brought home a third-place finish at the National Jamz Cheer Competition in Las Vegas, NV, on Sunday, February 2. Often referred to as the “Olympics of youth cheer,” earning a spot on the podium is a significant achievement.

The 8th-grade team is part of the Palos Verdes Pop Warner Youth Football and Cheer program, with many of the cheerleaders having participated for several years. Notably, Emery Friedman has been with the program since kindergarten, marking an incredible commitment to the sport.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Amy Friedman, the team trained tirelessly with the guidance of Palos Verdes High School cheerleading trainers Kate Warner, Julia Hoffman, Norah Lees, and Isabelle Tholan, who helped choreograph the competition-winning routine. Team Manager Josephine Balzano and assistant coaches Cyndi Barnes, Hollie Brekke, and Julie Wesley provided invaluable support throughout the season.

Congratulations to the Mavericks on this outstanding achievement!
