Destination: Art Celebrating 10 Years Bringing Art to the Community

If you have not discovered Destination: Art, this is an exciting time to find out what you have been missing! This year it celebrates 10 years in the community with a “10th Anniversary Celebration and Showcase” on Saturday, November 16th. In November 2014, Destination: Art opened its doors in downtown Torrance, and the combination studios and art gallery is eager to celebrate 10 years of success with the community! Come for an afternoon of beautiful art, food and beverage, fun, art demos, a silent auction, and prizes. Ribbon cutting promptly at 12:30 pm. Tickets are $20 and available now.

Destination: Art was expressly founded to bring art and beauty to the community. The studios reflect the unique personalities and styles of the artists. During business hours, visitors can meet the studio artists and get a better understanding of their inspiration, techniques, and thoughts on art.

Although this is a unique and successful art space, the programs are what make Destination: Art a community hub.   There are three community outreach programs organized by Destination: Art. The Creative Conversations series promotes human growth and worth through the acknowledgement of beauty and creativity.  These talks, at just $10, are led by people who have lived an authentic expression of their passion, allowing their love and enthusiasm for what they do to naturally express creativity in areas such as being a restauranteur, a florist, a psychologist or a business leader.  Art for Everyone invites the community to come for a morning of creativity, at a nominal cost of $10 per session. This is an opportunity for people who think that they are not creative or artistic to be touched by the process of creating small works of art while learning some basic design principles. Friends of Destination: Art is a program in conjunction with the Autism Society of Los Angeles and is about creating an inclusive environment for young adults on the autism spectrum to make connections through art experiences.

In addition to these outreach programs, each Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm artists can bring their own projects and supplies and participate in Paint-Ins where everyone can come together for a day of uninstructed painting with mutual encouragement and camaraderie. This drop-in program is open to everyone and is $15 ($10 for members).

Destination: Art brings together 12 Studio Artists, 20 Gallery Artists and 120 Associate artists who fulfill the belief that art is essential to the flourishing of the human spirit.  Studio and Gallery Artists are Juried in, and volunteer at Destination: Art with the organization’s outreach and events. Associates are eligible to exhibit in the Associates’ Only Show once per year.

Destination: Art curates six art exhibitions each year, offering a place for local artists to exhibit their work and for the public to enjoy and be inspired. To find out more about Destination: Art you can visit the Gallery in person Thursday-Saturday 11:00am – 4:00pm at 1815 W. 213th St, Suite 135 in Torrance.
