DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, June 13th\, children (ages 5 and up) from the community are invited to make their own enchanted Fairy Garden at the lighthouse. The kids will make a take home “mini” garden using succulents from the cuttings provided by lighthouse volunteer gardeners and add their own enchanted touch in the way of decorative items. They also can decorate a “pet rock” and exhibit their creativity in chalk drawings. LA Rec and Parks will provide the materials for a craft project and a snack will be provided. Participation is free.

DESCRIPTION:Today’s walk\, with its stunning coastal views\, offers a glimpse into the Peninsula’s historical role in post-WWI LA Harbor coastal defense systems. We will see remnants of U.S. Army armaments and fortifications that came under the command of Fort MacArthur and also one of the best-preserved Cold War-era Nike missile launch sites (LA-55) in the country. \n\n\n\nThe Prickly Pear Trail will take us through Hatano Farm (1953-2022)\, the last vestige of a rich Japanese American agricultural legacy on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This 5.5 acre site was recently designated as a California Point of Historical Interest for its association with (1) the settlement of Japanese American farmers in the area\, which had a profound influence on the cultural history of the local area\, and (2) as the only remaining Japanese American flower farm on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. \n\n\n\nNOTE: This is one of the prospective sites under consideration for the future home of the Wayfarer’s Chapel. \n\n\n\nDifficulty: Moderate; approx.1.7 miles \n\n\n\nParking: RPV City Hall (free) \n\n\n\nAmenities: Rest rooms\, drinking fountain\, picnic benches

General Garden Admission will include Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: A Field Study\, a whimsical expedition featuring 12 large Trolls crafted entirely from reclaimed wood. These gentle\, globe-trotting giants have ventured to our corner of the world on an important mission: to observe humankind’s delightful quirks—what makes you wonderfully\, uniquely you? The Garden is open seven days a week from 8am to 5pm. \n\n\n\nTheir visit to the Garden will transform our 87 acres into a playful\, storybook landscape\, where guests can wander beside these charismatic creatures and discover them tucked into immersive locations across the grounds. Step into their world\, see the Garden through their curious eyes\, and let the Trolls add you to their ongoing study of humanity! \n\n\n\nTroll TreksGrab your walking stick and join us for a Troll Trek – a whimsical and wonderful walking tour! This ticket includes an exclusive guided tour of Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: A Field Study as well as General Admission. On this 40-minute romp through the wilder side of our Garden\, you’ll follow your Tour Guide to discover and meet the Twelvelings as they collect data for their Field Study. \n\n\n\nThis is an exclusive event only happening on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Tickets for the Troll Trek are $12 for Members and upto $33 for non-members. \n\n\n\nTroll Trek Mobility RideWhile the Troll Trek requires guests to be able to walk the distance of the exhibit and through rugged terrain\, we are also hosting a Troll Trek Mobility Ride on Thursdays and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. for those with limited mobility. Tickets for the Troll Trek Mobility Ride are $12 for Members and up to $33 for non-members. Resort guests and children ages 13 and under are complimentary. \n\n\n\nPrivate cabanas are available for $500 (admission for eight guests included)\, plus tax and processing fees during booking. A 20% service charge will be added to the final bill at the time of the event. \n\n\n\nIn addition to the Nelson’s stage\, guests can enjoy nightly live music throughout the resort\, including at the Lobby Bar and Casamigos Terrace\, where expertly crafted seasonal cocktails\, ocean views and a refined coastal ambiance create the perfect setting for summer evenings by the sea. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6 p.m. and live music takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. on the Sunset Bluff at Nelson’s.
