SUMMARY:Point Vicente Lighthouse Grounds Monthly Open House
DESCRIPTION:Join Coast Guard Auxiliary docents for self-guided walking tours of the Point Vicente Lighthouse grounds\, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. Built in 1926 and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard\, the Lighthouse has been in continuous use helping ships navigate to and from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. It still flashes twice every 20 seconds and is a critical aid to navigation even in an electronic navigation and GPS world. Walk the grounds and view the Display Center in the building that originally housed the foghorn.  \n\n\n\nPlease note that the annual Whale of a Day Festival has been postponed from April 11 to April 25th due to the weather forecast; however\, the Point Vicente Lighthouse grounds will still be open from 10am to 3pm to the public. \n\n\n\nAmple parking adjacent to Lighthouse property in dirt lot. No parking within Lighthouse gates. Handicapped parking available on site inside Lighthouse gates by talking to gate guard and showing handicapped placard. Lighthouse tower itself is closed. Dogs on leash OK; please scoop the poop. Bicycles OK; please walk or lock up.

Enjoy weeding\, native plant seed preparation\, children’s learning activities at the Nature Center\, a guided garden walk\, raffle prizes\, and more! \nJoin us and make a difference this Earth Day! \nPlease note the event may be cancelled due to weather conditions. Please check this webpage before leaving for the event. \nVolunteers should be prepared to work outdoors by bringing sun protection\, bug spray\, drinking water (a reusable water bottle is recommended). Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants/sleeves are recommended. \nEvent starts at 9am we encourage you to arrive early. The check-in desk will be open starting at 8:30 AM \nIf you register after 6pm on April 17\, you will need to sign a release form onsite at the event on April 19. All volunteers under 18 must have an adult sign their release form. All volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. \nSpace is limited—pre-registration is strongly encouraged to reserve your spot and help us plan the event activities.

Step into their world\, see the Garden through their curious eyes\, and let the Trolls add you to their ongoing study of humanity! \n\n\n\nTroll TreksGrab your walking stick and join us for a Troll Trek – a whimsical and wonderful walking tour! This ticket includes an exclusive guided tour of Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: A Field Study as well as General Admission.
