DESCRIPTION:New this year\, The DIO Implant LA Open will make its debut at Palos Verdes Golf Club from March 27 – April 2\, 2023. With its fifth year on the LPGA Tour in Southern California\, the tournament will welcome fans back with a week full of world-class golf and family-friendly events. \n\n\n\nThe tournament will be closed to the public starting Monday\, March 27 through Wednesday\, March 29. Tickets will be available for purchase and necessary to access the event starting Thursday\, March 30 – Sunday\, April 2 (official competition days). \n\n\n\nA field of 144 of the greatest female professional golfers in the world will compete for a share of the $1.75 million purse and produce some of the most exciting moments in professional golf. For more event information\, visit the official tournament website at www.la-open.com. \n\n\n\nFree Admission will be provided for the following: \n\n\n\nChildren 17 and under are admitted free into the tournament with a paid adult. Entrance to hospitality areas requires a paid ticket\, regardless of age. \n\n\n\nAll service personnel\, including military (active\, retired\, reserve and veteran)\, fire\, police\, EMS and front-line healthcare workers (doctors and nurses) and their immediate family (up to four tickets) are admitted free all four days of championship play onto the grounds. SUMMARY:Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea Exhibit Opens at SCBG
DESCRIPTION:Trash is making a splash in the Garden this spring. Come see beautiful sculptures made of “trashy” finds\, explore our “trashy” past\, and learn how we can all be a little less “trashy” with the Garden’s latest exhibit\, Washed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea. Sixteen giant creatures made from beach debris have washed ashore and landed at the Garden through September. \n\n\n\nWashed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea is a non-profit organization committed to combating plastic pollution through art and education. These 16 sculptures\, which consist primarily of sea creatures\, were built by the organization and its volunteers to inspire and spark positive changes in consumer habits. The Garden\, having been built atop a sanitary landfill\, has been proof throughout the past 60-plus years that beautiful things can come from trashy pasts. With this exhibit\, we further explore the concept\, as well as the education behind what we can ALL do to limit waste\, particularly our single-plastic use. \n\n\n\nWhile Washed Ashore is included with Garden Admission (free for Members\, up to $15 for non-members)\, the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour is an additional $29 per person. \n\n\n\nThe Washed Ashore Adventure Tour includes a non-stop shuttle tour unlike anything Garden guests have ever experienced. To start\, guests will meet Defender of the Garden\, Sage\, or the spirited and mischievous Blossom. Both characters take turns hosting the tour\, providing humor and fun along the way. The whole experience is about 45 minutes\, including an exclusive photo opportunity at one of the sculptures. Lastly\, tour guests get to take home a reusable SCBG water bottle to help reduce their carbon footprint. Tours are offered Friday through Sunday through September. \n\n\n\nPlease note\, these sculptures are works of art. SUMMARY:Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea Exhibit and Adventure Tours
DESCRIPTION:Trash is making a splash in the Garden this spring. Come see beautiful sculptures made of “trashy” finds\, explore our “trashy” past\, and learn how we can all be a little less “trashy” with the Garden’s latest exhibit\, Washed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea. Sixteen giant creatures made from beach debris have washed ashore and landed at the Garden through September. \n\n\n\nWashed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea is a non-profit organization committed to combating plastic pollution through art and education. These 16 sculptures\, which consist primarily of sea creatures\, were built by the organization and its volunteers to inspire and spark positive changes in consumer habits. The Garden\, having been built atop a sanitary landfill\, has been proof throughout the past 60-plus years that beautiful things can come from trashy pasts. With this exhibit\, we further explore the concept\, as well as the education behind what we can ALL do to limit waste\, particularly our single-plastic use. \n\n\n\nWhile Washed Ashore is included with Garden Admission (free for Members\, up to $15 for non-members)\, the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour is an additional $29 per person.  \n\n\n\nThe Washed Ashore Adventure Tour includes a non-stop shuttle tour unlike anything Garden guests have ever experienced. To start\, guests will meet Defender of the Garden\, Sage\, or the spirited and mischievous Blossom. Both characters take turns hosting the tour\, providing humor and fun along the way. The whole experience is about 45 minutes\, including an exclusive photo opportunity at one of the sculptures. Lastly\, tour guests get to take home a reusable SCBG water bottle to help reduce their carbon footprint. Tours are offered Friday through Sunday. \n\n\n\nPlease note\, these sculptures are works of art. There will also be FREE paper shredding available\, limited to 3 boxes per person – the truck will be parked in the lot adjacent to El Pollo Inka. \n\n\n\nThis FREE event will highlight great environmental initiatives around the community and provide opportunities to learn more about water conservation\, storm water pollution prevention and energy efficiency. \n\n\n\nPromenade on the Peninsula is located on Silver Spur Road between Hawthorne and Crenshaw Boulevards. All stores and restaurants will be open during the event.

DESCRIPTION:Earth Day Clean Up: Kim Rhodes of Heal the Hill facebook group is organizing a community clean up day in honor of Earth Day and would people on the Peninsula to get involved! The way it works: Kim is recruiting neighborhood captains who will choose a clean up location/site (park\, trail – not a busy traffic area)\, recruit and lead a team in their neighborhood area to do a clean up on April 22nd for 1-2 hours. (Similar to how neighborhood watch operates) the suggested start time is 1pm\, but captains can choose a different time window that works for them.
