DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve! Celebrate Earth Day by helping to care for the White Point Nature Preserve Native Plant Demonstration Garden! Enjoy weeding\, native plant seed preparation\, children’s learning activities at the Nature Center\, a guided garden walk\, raffle prizes\, and more! \nJoin us and make a difference this Earth Day! \nPlease note the event may be cancelled due to weather conditions. Please check this webpage before leaving for the event. \nVolunteers should be prepared to work outdoors by bringing sun protection\, bug spray\, drinking water (a reusable water bottle is recommended). Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants/sleeves are recommended. \nEvent starts at 9am we encourage you to arrive early. The check-in desk will be open starting at 8:30 AM \nIf you register after 6pm on April 17\, you will need to sign a release form onsite at the event on April 19. All volunteers under 18 must have an adult sign their release form. All volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. \nSpace is limited—pre-registration is strongly encouraged to reserve your spot and help us plan the event activities.

DESCRIPTION:Spring has arrived on the Peninsula\, and what better way to celebrate than watching flowers come to life…twice? \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, April 18th\, from 11 am to 4 pm\, watercolor artist Margaret Mohr joins us for a free Art on the Patio demo\, sharing her unique techniques of mixing color directly on the page and layering watercolors to create the soft\, luminous florals she’s known for. \n\n\n\nMargaret’s path to fine art is a story in itself. After more than 40 years in commercial art\, designing everything from illustrations to comic books\,she discovered that watercolor was the medium that let her tell a different kind of story. Today\, her paintings celebrate the beauty of the natural world as an expression of faith\, and her new book\, Heaven Sent\, Paintings by Margaret Mohr\, brings that vision together in gorgeous detail. Copies will be available in the Artists’ Studio Gift Shop and Gallery Store at Palos Verdes Art Center\, perfect for a gift or a little inspiration to take home. \n\n\n\nAnd there is more: Margaret’s demo coincides with the annual Orchid Show in the Palos Verdes Art Center Atrium. So you can browse stunning orchids\, maybe bring one home\, and then step out to the patio to learn how to paint it. That’s what we call a full-circle Saturday.
