SUMMARY:Enjoy The Grand Annex Arts Saloon at First Thursday in San Pedro
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a laid-back First Thursday evening of music and art at the Grand Annex\, with your hosts\, local musicians Chris and Emily Huff. Featuring musicians from the San Pedro Musicians Directory and visual art presented by fINdings Art Center. \n\n\n\nChris and Emily Huff can be found around town harmonizing as a father-daughter duo or performing solo. Not only are they the Art Saloon Hosts\, they are the featured musicians for February’s Art Saloon! They are Known for their Texas-tinged Americana covers and originals\, you may have heard them around San Pedro – at the Lighthouse Cafe\, the old Sacred Grounds and at local festivals like Arts Open. \n\n\n\nFebruary featured Art Show: “Heavy&Real – Steel\, Clay and Timely Concerns” The Works of Joyce Kuhl and Larry Lubow\, curated by Henry Krusoe. \n\n\n\nLarry Lubow has dedicated himself to investigating the intersections between art\, design\, nature\, and architecture. A sculptor and collector\, he is an alum of Alfred University where he started creating art with clay and metal\, going on to showcase his creations in galleries and design showrooms worldwide. Most recently\, at Yard 227 and House 1002\, Larry merges design\, materials\, and vintage treasures to create new works. He is also a resident artist at Altasea\, a local non-profit dedicated to ocean research and climate-change mitigation. \n\n\n\nJoyce Kohl recently relocated her home and studio to San Pedro\, after losing both in the Eaton fire in Altadena. As a temporary resident of Angels Gate Cultural Center\, she is working on a steel and glass sculpture to be installed at the Claremont Metro Station. Joyce has previously completed other public art projects\, including a Fulbright Project in Zimbabwe\, where she collaborated with workers in a Ceramics factory to build a public sculpture related to the AIDS pandemic. Joyce received her Master’s Degree from Cal State Fullerton (where she first met Larry Lubow). She retired from teaching Ceramics at Cal State University\, Bakersfield\, shortly before the Eaton fire. \n\n\n\nHenry Krusoe is an Otis College graduate and has been an Angels Gate Cultural Center resident artist since 2019\, creating multimedia artwork spanning analog and digital formats. \n\n\n\nArt Saloon is presented in partnership with fINdings Art Center and Arts United. \n\n\n\nNo-host bar open.
