SUMMARY:Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea Exhibit Opens at SCBG
DESCRIPTION:Trash is making a splash in the Garden this spring. Come see beautiful sculptures made of “trashy” finds\, explore our “trashy” past\, and learn how we can all be a little less “trashy” with the Garden’s latest exhibit\, Washed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea. Sixteen giant creatures made from beach debris have washed ashore and landed at the Garden through September. \n\n\n\nWashed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea is a non-profit organization committed to combating plastic pollution through art and education. These 16 sculptures\, which consist primarily of sea creatures\, were built by the organization and its volunteers to inspire and spark positive changes in consumer habits. The Garden\, having been built atop a sanitary landfill\, has been proof throughout the past 60-plus years that beautiful things can come from trashy pasts. With this exhibit\, we further explore the concept\, as well as the education behind what we can ALL do to limit waste\, particularly our single-plastic use. \n\n\n\nWhile Washed Ashore is included with Garden Admission (free for Members\, up to $15 for non-members)\, the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour is an additional $29 per person. \n\n\n\nThe Washed Ashore Adventure Tour includes a non-stop shuttle tour unlike anything Garden guests have ever experienced. To start\, guests will meet Defender of the Garden\, Sage\, or the spirited and mischievous Blossom. Both characters take turns hosting the tour\, providing humor and fun along the way. The whole experience is about 45 minutes\, including an exclusive photo opportunity at one of the sculptures. Lastly\, tour guests get to take home a reusable SCBG water bottle to help reduce their carbon footprint. Tours are offered Friday through Sunday through September. \n\n\n\nPlease note\, these sculptures are works of art. DESCRIPTION:The Artists’ Studio of Palos Verdes is excited to announce a new art exhibit coming soon to Malaga Cove Library. Everyone is invited to attend the opening reception for “Art in the Cove” on Friday\, April 14\, 2023\, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.\, in the Community Meeting Room of the library located at 2400 Via Campesina\, Palos Verdes Estates. Enjoy light refreshments and meet the artists while you browse the beautiful works of art. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit features the work of twenty local artists whose unique pieces are well known on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Colorful paintings and wall hangings in acrylic\, oil\, watercolor\, pastel\, graphite\, ceramics and more will be available for sale during the six-week show that runs from April 1 to May 13\, 2023.

Inspired by Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach\, this unique presentation of the life of Christ will bring the same wonder and majesty of Easter to the community as it has for the past 35 years\, but in a larger\, independently operated venue. \n\n\n\nRenowned works of art come to life during this theatrical event\, which includes a full orchestra\, original script\, and breathtaking re-creations of classical paintings and sculptures depicting the life\, ministry\, death\, and resurrection of Christ. What makes the artwork so unique is the use of models\, both adults and children\, who pose within each piece to replicate the original paintings and sculptures.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for this intimate multimedia arts event\, hosted by insightful artist\, Cheryl Girard\, and sponsored by Linda Grimes of the San Pedro Waterfront Arts District\, Liz Schindler Johnson of the Grand Vision Foundation\, Jenny Eisenpresser-independent artist and Linna Hanson. \n\n\n\nFlesh and Soul\, a raw and vulnerable show\, explores how body image is linked to our feelings of self-worth and confidence. At this event you will experience Cheryl’s personal journey through her paintings\, poetry and essays as she moves you through the tender truths\, we all hold deep beneath the surface. \n\n\n\nCheryl is an courageous artist with an important message. We want to help her launch Flesh and Soul and support her in expanding her movement of body positivity\, self-worth\, women’s leadership and showing up for each other. The gathering will begin with an hour to take in the art\, sip some wine and enjoy a few nibbles. Cheryl will begin sharing her writing at 5pm. Afterward there will be more time for art and discussion. (Adults only please.) \n\n\n\nHer newly published book\, Flesh and Soul\, will be available for sale and she will happily sign your copy! \n\n\n\nStreet parking is available. Event is in the El Segundo Arts District\, just blocks away from the downtown Main Street area.
