Lunar New Year Celebration at South Coast Botanic Garden

Come celebrate the Year of the Rabbit

South Coast Botanic Garden’s first-ever Lunar New Year Celebration will position the winter blooms and green foliage as a picture-perfect backdrop to usher in the year of the rabbit, complete with red lanterns and festive activities. Experiences throughout the weekend will include Chinese zodiac scroll making, paper lantern decorating, Chinese paper cutting, Chinese game booths, a Chinese calligraphy artist demonstration and storytelling. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. For a full list of events, see below.

Activity Stations will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., including:

• Games
• Calligraphy demonstrations
• Crafts
• Piped in music
• Walking Tours: Spring Festival and preparing for spring
• New Year’s Well Wishes
• Photo opportunity
• Food and beverages for sale at Dottie’s

Live Performances will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., including:

• Lion dancers from ACA Lion Dance (UCLA) and Wushu Shaolin Entertainment
• Musical performance
• Fan dancing
• Drummers
• Martial art demonstrations from Wushu Shaolin Entertainment

Story Time will take place at noon and 3 p.m.

Lunar New Year Celebration is included with Garden General Admission.
