Local California commercial growers\, nurseries\, and international vendors will be offering a wide range and very unique selection of species and hybrid orchids of various genera\, companion plants\, succulents\, bromeliads\, carnivorous plants\, hoyas\, ferns\, exotic and rare plants\, foliage plants\, ceramic pots\, growing supplies\, and lots more for sale. Many of the orchids can be grown outdoors in our Southern California area. \n\n\n\nThe show and sale are both included with your paid entrance admission fee payable at the entrance directly to the South Bay Orchid Society. \n\n\n\nThe galleries at Palos Verdes Art Center\, which is the co-sponsor of the show\, will be open during show/sale hours\, and we encourage attendees to tour the paintings\, ceramics\, photography\, sculptures\, and various works of art and exhibits. \n\n\n\nCome join us and enjoy the blooms\, fragrance\, the friendship\, and all the fun. Los Serenos de Point Vicente is in search of adultswho are eager to learn about the local geology\, flora and fauna\, and history\, and share their knowledge withmuseum visitors.The Open House will be held at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center at 7pm.Membership is open to those interested in learning about the nature and history of the local area and sharingthis knowledge by conducting tours of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center and various Trails scattered on thePalos Verdes Peninsula. Click here for a full description of docent duties and responsibilities.The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Los Serenos de Point Vicente has assisted and supported the City of RanchoPalos Verdes’ objectives for the Point Vicente Interpretive Center since 1984. DESCRIPTION:Each fall\, the Palos Verdes Library District holds our Annual Community Art Show\, inviting local artists\, professionals\, and amateurs alike\, to participate. Typically featuring almost 100 artists from around the Peninsula and the larger Los Angeles community\, our Community Art Shows include artists of all backgrounds and experience levels. Pieces include many media forms such as photography\, painting\, collage\, and sculpture.  \n\n\n\nThe 2024 Community Art Show application period will open on Sunday\, September 1st and Applications due by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on September 27\, 2024.  Artists will be notified of acceptance by October 13th.

Immerse yourself amid hundreds of tropical butterflies as we celebrate our 4th year of SOAR! \n\n\n\nThis popular exhibit features hundreds of tropical butterflies that you wouldn’t normally see in Southern California. Your journey begins as you step into the Host and Nectar Garden and wander through beautiful plant species that are part of a butterfly’s habitat. Next\, you’ll stop by our Emergence Chamber where you may just see a butterfly emerge from its pupa! Next\, you’ll enter the pavilion where you will have an up-close-and-personal experience with the hundreds of butterflies flying throughout the exhibit. While the pavilion provides many photo-worthy moments\, there will be additional photo opportunities outside of the pavilion as part of SOAR. Once your SOAR experience is complete\, you can continue to awaken your senses with Bloom!Tickets are $6 for members and $23 for non-members which includes garden admission.SOAR reservations run from 9:30am to 4:30pm daily through August 31st and must be booked in advance\, each ticket allows 30 minutes in the pavilion at the designated time printed on ticket. \n\n\n\nButterfly Feeding ExperienceWant an even more unique experience? Guests will again have the opportunity to feed our butterflies! Purchase the Butterfly Feeding Experience for an additional $6 and you can use a flower vial filled with nectar to use while inside the pavilion to help entice butterflies to come close to you for the optimum and most immersive experience. There will be one vial per Butterfly Feeding Experience ticket holder\, which is returned at the end of the experience.
