SUMMARY:Swan Lake Presented by Peninsula School of Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION:A Tale of Love and Betrayal \n\n\n\nPeninsula School of Performing Arts will be presenting a grand performance of Swan Lake\, directed\, and choreographed by Tita Boulger and Vera Ninkovic\, with additional choreography by Roberto Almaguer\, Marina Kalinina\, and Brianna Fields. This production features the advanced ballet students from PSPA\, Samantha Striplin\, Cammi Malicse\, and Hannah Sheriff in the roles of Odette and Odile. Additional lead roles will be danced by guest artist Mate Szentes as Prince Siegfried and Thel Moore III as Baron von Rothbart. Graduating seniors Isabelle Garvey and Minji Kang will dance the role of Baroness von Rothbart and Diane Anderson and Nicolette Tombu will be featured in the role of the Princess. The cast will be rounded out with an additional 70 performers dancing the Pas de Trois\, Petite Cygnets\, Swan Corps\, and dances of the villages and visiting countries. Swan Lake is known for its many diverse endings\, and here you will see an original ending created by Ms. Ninkovic with the swans themselves rallying to save the Prince and Odette from the grips of Baron and Baroness von Rothbart. \n\n\n\nSwan Lake is a ballet composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875-76. First choreographed by Julius Retsinger\, it was a failure. Since its revival in 1895 with additional new music by Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov\, it has become one of the most popular ballets of all time. \n\n\n\nPerformances will be held on Friday\, May 19 at 7:00 pm\, Saturday\, May 20 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm\, and Sunday\, May 21 at 2:00 pm. Saturday night performance will begin with performances of the season’s award-winning competition highlights. The other three performances will begin with 30 minutes of recital dances of the younger students of PSPA.

SUMMARY:Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea Exhibit and Adventure Tours
DESCRIPTION:Trash is making a splash in the Garden this spring. Come see beautiful sculptures made of “trashy” finds\, explore our “trashy” past\, and learn how we can all be a little less “trashy” with the Garden’s latest exhibit\, Washed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea. Sixteen giant creatures made from beach debris have washed ashore and landed at the Garden through September. \n\n\n\nWashed Ashore – Art to Save the Sea is a non-profit organization committed to combating plastic pollution through art and education. These 16 sculptures\, which consist primarily of sea creatures\, were built by the organization and its volunteers to inspire and spark positive changes in consumer habits. The Garden\, having been built atop a sanitary landfill\, has been proof throughout the past 60-plus years that beautiful things can come from trashy pasts. With this exhibit\, we further explore the concept\, as well as the education behind what we can ALL do to limit waste\, particularly our single-plastic use. \n\n\n\nWhile Washed Ashore is included with Garden Admission (free for Members\, up to $15 for non-members)\, the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour is an additional $29 per person. \n\n\n\nThe Washed Ashore Adventure Tour includes a non-stop shuttle tour unlike anything Garden guests have ever experienced. To start\, guests will meet Defender of the Garden\, Sage\, or the spirited and mischievous Blossom. Both characters take turns hosting the tour\, providing humor and fun along the way. The whole experience is about 45 minutes\, including an exclusive photo opportunity at one of the sculptures. Lastly\, tour guests get to take home a reusable SCBG water bottle to help reduce their carbon footprint. Tours are offered Friday through Sunday. \n\n\n\nPlease note\, these sculptures are works of art. While some of them may be touched\, please respect any no-touch signage throughout the exhibit. \n\n\n\nPhoto Credit: Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea

SUMMARY:Small Glories & Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Roots powerhouse duo Cara Luft (The Wailin’ Jennys) and JD Edwards\, are a musical tour-de-force partnership planted on the Canadian Prairies. Winners of the 2019 International Folk Music Awards Artist of the Year and Canadian Folk Music Awards Contemporary Album of the Year in 2020. They bring a folk-pop melody and instrumentation — songs of love\, loss\, and environment\, delivered with soaring\, interwoven vocals on various combinations of stomping clawhammer banjo\, guitar and harmonica. \nThrown together purely by accident for an anniversary show at Winnipeg’s venerable West End Cultural Centre\, The Small Glories could almost make you believe in fate. With a stage banter striking a unique balance between slapstick and sermon\, these veteran singer-songwriters have a way of making time disappear\, rooms shrink\, and audiences feel as they are right there on the stage with the band — writing the songs\, living the songs\, performing the songs. \nPre-Concert Wine Tastings: 7-7:30PM\, led by JP Molinari and require an additional ticket. Wine tastings are $16 or free for members at the Friend\, Committee of $200\, VIP Circle\, Premium\, and Angel levels. \nJean Philippe (JP) Molinari will be presenting a selection of fine wines. JP’s career in the wine business began in France. Here in the U.S.\, he honed his skills and love of wine to become a sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers. You’ll enjoy both his expertise and charm. \nTickets $20-30 a person\, wine tasting additional.
