SUMMARY:SOAR Tropical Butterfly Pavilion at South Coast Botanic Garden
DESCRIPTION:The butterflies return May 1\, 2024! Immerse yourself amid hundreds of tropical butterflies as we celebrate our 4th year of SOAR! \n\n\n\nThis popular exhibit features hundreds of tropical butterflies that you wouldn’t normally see in Southern California. Your journey begins as you step into the Host and Nectar Garden and wander through beautiful plant species that are part of a butterfly’s habitat. Next\, you’ll stop by our Emergence Chamber where you may just see a butterfly emerge from its pupa! Next\, you’ll enter the pavilion where you will have an up-close-and-personal experience with the hundreds of butterflies flying throughout the exhibit. While the pavilion provides many photo-worthy moments\, there will be additional photo opportunities outside of the pavilion as part of SOAR. Once your SOAR experience is complete\, you can continue to awaken your senses with Bloom!Tickets are $6 for members and $23 for non-members which includes garden admission.SOAR reservations run from 9:30am to 4:30pm daily through August 31st and must be booked in advance\, each ticket allows 30 minutes in the pavilion at the designated time printed on ticket. \n\n\n\nButterfly Feeding ExperienceWant an even more unique experience? Guests will again have the opportunity to feed our butterflies! Purchase the Butterfly Feeding Experience for an additional $6 and you can use a flower vial filled with nectar to use while inside the pavilion to help entice butterflies to come close to you for the optimum and most immersive experience. There will be one vial per Butterfly Feeding Experience ticket holder\, which is returned at the end of the experience.

DESCRIPTION:The Marine Mammal Care Center is open for public visitation Fridays\, Saturdays\, Sundays\, and Mondays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. They are closed to public visitation Tuesdays\, Wednesdays and Thursdays. During your visit\, you will get to see seal and sea lion patients\, enjoy various exhibits\, join a scheduled lecture or activity\, and learn from our experienced volunteer docents. You can also do some shopping in our gift store with all proceeds supporting the care and protection of marine mammals and our shared ocean. \n\n\n\nThe Marine Mammal Care Center is proud to offer tours in American Sign Language with a Deaf Guide. To book with a Deaf Guide\, please contact dbader@marinemammalcare.org to coordinate a time and date.Tickets are free (a $5 donation per person is appreciated) and must be reserved online in advance. SUMMARY:Peninsula School of Performing Arts Presents "La Bayadere" at the Norris Theater
DESCRIPTION:Peninsula School of Performing Arts is proud to present a full-length production of the famous ballet “La Bayadere”. Set in India\, this ballet tells the story of a temple dancer\, Nikiya\, and her sworn love\, the dashing soldier Solor. The wealthy Rajah decides he wishes to wed his beautiful daughter Gamzatti to this famous warrior and forces Solor to break his vow to Nikiya. A lavish wedding is followed by tragedy\, but Solor finally meets his beloved in the Kingdom of the Shades. \n\n\n\nThis year’s production will feature two distinct casts. Nikiya the temple dancer will be portrayed by Nerissa Chin and Mizuki Morisaki. Gamzatti will be danced by Hannah Sherrif and Malaya Paterson. Nikiya in the afterlife will be danced by Aria Kamei-Oser\, Hannah Sherrif\, and Nerissa Chin. \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to have guest artist Mate Szentes return to PSPA to dance the role of Solor the Warrior. Kevin Donville will appear as the Rajah and Charles Fentroy as the Brahmin and all other parts will be danced by the ballet students of PSPA. \n\n\n\nEach evening’s show will begin with 20 minutes of the school’s youngest dancers to delight the hearts of all. \n\n\n\nPerformance Times \n\n\n\n\nFriday\, May 10\, 2024 at 7 pm\n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 11\, 2024\, at 2 pm and 7 pm\n\n\n\nSunday\, May 12\, 2024 at 2 pm
