The Klink family—Dan, Courtney, Patrick, and Cady—introduces us to their furry members, Buddy the Golden Retriever, and their rescues, black cat Ace and Simba the orange tabby.
What are the ages of your pets?
Buddy is three years old. Ace and Simba are eight years old. Buddy was named by the children and the cats’ names came with them from the rescue foundation. Buddy came to us from Emerald Acres Golden Retriever in Rosamond, California in August 2019.
How did your pets become a part of your family?
Ace and Simba were adopted almost eight and a half years ago through the Pet Assistance Foundation and were Christmas presents for Patrick and Cady. When we moved to the Valmonte area from the Silver Spur area over four years ago, the children really wanted a dog as we now had a fenced-in backyard, so we gave in!
Do you have a funny story about your pets?
The funniest memory of Buddy has to be when he decided to eat one of Patrick’s socks on his first Thanksgiving. We weren’t positive if he had eaten it, yet, we couldn’t find the sock. He ate fine and all systems were working, so we figured he didn’t eat it. However, nine days later, he threw the sock up! Buddy loves to eat anything. Our vet said that Goldens are like goats and will eat anything! I guess our story about the sock proves that theory!
Which pet is the most spoiled?
Buddy is very spoiled! He thinks he is a human and part of the family. With his cute face, he gets away with anything! Sleeping on the furniture or swiping food off the counter, to name a few! Buddy has enriched our family in so many ways. He is always happy to see us when we come home. He gets us out walking and has allowed us to meet the great families in the neighborhood who also have a dog.
