How To Keep A Girl Once You've Found Her
PV Reads
This month we introduce you to Michelle Dunn. A mother of four, wife to one and elementary teacher to many. Her book, How To Keep A Girl Once You’ve Found Her is available on Amazon, at Barnes & Noble, as well as Corners of the World in Malaga Cover
PV Magazine: What did you learn about yourself during the writing process?
Michelle: Through writing this book, I’ve learned that I’m not an island. As I was compiling the book, and reaching out for feedback, I was thanked by many people (both men and women). I realize many women feel the same way, and chivalrous men still do exist! Men have even thanked me . . . for giving them fun, new ways to show love to the women in their lives.
PV Magazine: What was the last book you read?
Michelle: The last book I read was “Queen Bees and Wannabees” by Rosalind Wiseman. The movie “Mean Girls” was based off this book. It has helped me understand what it’s like being a teenage girl in this day and age…all the struggles they go through in society. It’s tough to be a teen today! I have two teenage girls. I also have two sons. Of course, I gifted them with my book – to give them tools to show love to their future girlfriends/wives, in fun, creative ways.
PV Magazine: How long have you lived on the Hill?
Michelle: My family and I are blessed to be living in the very home my father built, over 65 years ago! My children are 3rd-generation PVE residents! And we wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! I remember the story my father told about how he picked out the lot where he would one day build his home . . . a home that would be passed down for many generations. And that’s just what we are doing, living out his wishes and our dream! I have never taken growing up/living on the Hill for granted. And I hope I’ve instilled that in my children, as well. We are all so fortunate!
PV Magazine: Is there anything you would like to share about growing up and its influence upon you and your book?
Michelle: Believe it or not, my father was born in 1899, and I was raised in a home, full of traditional values. My parents were very old-fashioned, and those values stuck. I believe girls still appreciate chivalrous men. My book is chock-full of thoughtful ways to show love, utilizing a touch of old-fashioned values.
PV Magazine: What inspired you to become a writer and of this genre?
Michelle: I have been compiling little notes over the years, of what’s important to me, as a woman, in a relationship. I thought other women (young and old) may feel the same way. Sometimes, I have to give my husband “gentle” reminders of what I need/want within our relationship . . . and he jokingly said I should give him a manual. That just what inspired me to compile all my notes into this book! I thought it would make a cute coffee table book, that people could casually pick up and read while passing time…and come away with a smile and little “love tools”.
Beautiful Michelle! We grew up on the same street and we have watched each other raise our own families!! Thank you for your sweet book and hope it brings many blessings!!!
